NEW! Felt-It!
In case you haven't noticed, felting is the hot new thing in fiber fun! Now you can felt purses, hats, bags and accessories with Caron's newest yarn—Felt-it! This wonderful 100% wool roving yarn is space-dyed in six beautiful colorways that, when felted, result in a soft muted watercolor effect.
So what is felting, anyway? Some people have joked that felting is what happens when your husband does the laundry. If you've ever washed a wool sweater and tossed it in a hot dryer, you (or your husband) have felted. Whether intentionally or not, the process of felting describes what happens when wool fibers are agitated (in a washer) so that the surface of the fibers shrink, mat and bind together like, well, felt.
Give felting a try with our free Felted Purse project. You'll knit a purse that's about 30% larger than your final targed finished dimensions. Finish it off as you would any project, weaving in ends, etc. Then wash the project in a top-loading washing machine in hot water with mild detergent. Then shape and embellish your project and sit back and enjoy the compliments you'll receive! Read the complete instructions here.

Felting is such an exciting and satisfying fiber adventure. Because felted fabric has so much body, you can create wonderful 3-dimensional pieces, each with it's own individual character. Begin with a purse or two, then try a hat and a cell phone bag. When you are ready, experiment with felted bowls, vases, pillows and wall-hangings. They are easier than you think! Because our new Felt-It! yarn is space dyed in soft subtle colors, your finished felted creations will resemble soft watercolor paintings, each one unique.
