Welcome to Caron Connections, your free e-newsletter from Caron International.

Share your favorite story about knit or crochet and WIN!
Everyone has one. It may be about a special stitching memory, a favorite knit or crocheted heirloom passed down through your family, or recounting the day you first picked up knitting needles or a crochet hook and who was by your side as you discovered the joy of stitching.

At Caron, we know our stories are important. They are woven into the fabrics we stitch, into the memories we make with yarn.

To acknowledge and celebrate these stories, we are introducing an exciting new program just for subscribers to this free e-newsletter, Caron Connections.

Send your favorite story about knitting or crocheting to editor@caron-connections.com. Your story will be entered into a drawing for your choice of 6 skeins of any current Caron yarn. We will select a winner for every issue of Caron Connections, about twice each month. Winners' stories will be featured on Caron.com and Caron Connections.

We look forward to hearing your stories!

With this issue of Caron Connections we bring you 4 new free patterns, each using a different exciting Caron yarn. Take your pick and get started.

Ruffle Purse
crocheted in Bliss and Simply Soft

Four million newborns around the world die each year within the first month of life — half within the first 24 hours of life. An organization called Save the Children reported on these at-risk babies and highlighted simple, low-cost practices that could save newborn lives. One of these practices includes warming the infants' heads with knit or crocheted caps!

When the report was published, knitters and crocheters like you asked what they could do to help. As a result of their enthusiasm, Save the Children has partnered with the Warm Up America! Foundation to launch Knitters and Crocheters for Newborns: Caps to the Capital.

Please take a moment to click on this link to the Save the Children Caps to the Capital campaign website. There you'll find a Caps to the Capital Action Kit, a free download that includes 2 easy knit cap patterns and 2 easy crochet cap patterns for you to use, plus complete guidelines on how to participate.

Caron is a proud sponsor of the Save the Children Caps to the Capital campaign. Please join us in helping save a newborn baby's life today.

Happy stitching,

Cari Clement

P.S. And on a personal note . . . Welcome to the World, Hazel Ann Green! My new baby granddaughter will definitely change my life, the least of which will be my knitting and crocheting projects! She was born to my daughter, Naima, and her husband, Chris, August 24 early in the morning, so in this photo she’s less than one day old. When I get to see her this coming weekend, I know it will be nearly impossible to put her down!
