TECHNIQUE USED: Knit

 

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 
Width (at back of neck) x length: 7”x 58”

MATERIALS

Caron International's Bliss 3, 1.75 oz/50 g skeins
one pair size 10 (5mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE;
size I crochet hook

 

GAUGE
14 sts and 18 rows = 4”/10cm over pat st
TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

PATTERN STITCH (st st)
(over an even number of stitches)
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: Purl.  Repeat these 2 rows for pat st.

 

INSTRUCTIONS
Cast on 2 sts.  Work in pat st, increasing one stitch at beg of every other knit row six times:  8 sts.  Then inc 1 st at beg of every knit row 14 times: 22 sts.  Cont in st st until piece meas 15”.  End so next row will be at unshaped edge. Place marker at beg of next row.  Work short row section as follows: work in st st for 10 rows, ending with purl row.  *Short row:  Knit 11 sts.  Slip the next st on the left needle to the right needle as if to purl.  Bring the yarn between the needles and slip the stitch back to the left needle.  Bring yarn back between the needles to the back.  Turn work.  Purl back.  Knit 11 sts.  Lift the wrap around the slipped stitch to the left needle and knit this stitch together with the next stitch.  Knit to end.  Work in pat st for 19 rows, ending with purl row.*  Repeat bet *’s 3 more times, but end with working 10 rows in pat st instead of 19.   Place a second marker at unshaped edge.  Work in st st until piece measures 13” from last marker.  Work reverse shaping along shaped edge. 

 

FINISHING
Work 1 row sc around all edges.
