TECHNIQUE USED: Crochet

 

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 
6" tall x 11" wide x 1-1/2" deep


MATERIALS

Caron International’s Bliss (CC): 2 skeins color #0005 Copper,
Caron International's Simply Soft (MC): 1 skein color #9744 Copper Kettle
G & D crochet hooks (OR SIZE TO ACHIEVE GAUGE)
tapestry needle

 

wGAUGE
With MC & using larger hook in pat st (before adding ruffles): 16 sts & 13.5 rows = 4"

 

STITCHES
slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), triple crochet (trc)
Note: Use larger hook throughout. (Smaller hook is only used to make buttons.)

 

FRONT
(worked bottom to top)
With MC, chain 45.
Row 1 (wrong side): Turn. Ch 2. Hdc in each ch across.
Row 2: Turn. Ch 2. Work 1 hdc in back loop of each hdc across.
Rows 3 & 4: Repeat row 2.
Row 5 (Post stitch row): Turn. Ch 2. Work 1 hdc around each hdc on previous row.
Row 6 - 8: Repeat Row 2.
Row 9: Repeat Row 5.
Repeat Rows 6 – 9 three more times.
Work 1 row sl st across.

RUFFLES
Join CC to first st on first post st row on right side. Ch 3. *Work 2 trc in next post st.
Work 1 trc in next post st.* Repeat bet *’s across.
Repeat first Ruffles row for each of the 5 post st rows.

BACK
Same as front but make 2 button loops: work sl st in first 12 sts, ch 4, skip 1 st, sl st in next 19 sts, ch 4, skip 1 st, sl st in rem 12 sts. Ruffles are also same as for Front.

GUSSET & SHOULDER STRAP
Using MC, ch 6.
Row 1: Work as for Row 1 of Front.
Row 2: Work as for Row 2 of Front.
Continue repeating Row 2 until piece meas 45".

FINISHING
Using an overcast stitch, sew gusset/strap around side, lower edge and other side on front of purse. Repeat for back of purse. Make 2 buttons: Using smaller hook, ch 3 (leave a 6" end of yarn when forming the first loop). Hdc in 3rd ch from hook. Join to form a ring. Sc in each hdc around. Sl st to 1st st. Ch 1. Sc in each sc around. Sl st to 1st st. Break off leaving a 12" end. Thread tapestry needle with cast-on end of yarn and thread through center of button to the shank.Thread tapestry needle with 12" end of yarn and catch each sc around. Draw to tighten and secure. Using each of the ends of yarn, sew buttons to front to correspond to buttonloop placement.
