MATERIALS
Caron International’s Simply Soft Boucle; 2 skeins
#10 1/2 hand knitting needles OR SIZE TO ACHIEVE GAUGE)
tapestry needle.
GAUGE
In pat st: 8 sts & 16 rows = 4”
STITCH
Reverse stockinette stitch (rev st st)
Vest is knitted in one piece.
INSTRUCTIONS
Cast on 12 sts, place marker, cast on 24 sts, place marker, cast on 12 sts: 48 sts total. Work in pat st until piece measures 5” ending with WS row. Shape armhole: purl 10 sts. Place on holder. Bind off next 4 sts. Purl 20 sts & place on holder. Bind off next 4 sts. Purl to end. Next row: knit. Next row: purl 2 tog, purl to end. When armhole measures
2 1/2” end at neck edge, shape neck edge: bind off 3 sts beg next row. Dec 1 st neck edge every 2 rows once: 5 sts. When armhole meas 5”, shape shoulders: end armhole edge. Bind off 3 sts beg next row. Work back. Bind off remaining 2 sts.
Attach yarn to the 20 sts for Back and shape each armhole: dec 1 st each end every other row once: 18 sts. When armhole meas 5”, shape as for side just completed.
Slip rem 10 sts to ndl and shape as for first side front, reversing shaping.
Finishing:
Cut a small amount of Boucle yarn and unravel, using to sew shoulder seams.
