KNITTED MEASUREMENTS

To fit head size: 20 (21)"/51 (53.5)cm 

 

MATERIALS
Caron International's Dazzleaire (80% acrylic, 20% polyamide; 3oz/85g)

Color Pinot Noir, 3oz/85g

One circular needle size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm), 16"/40.5cm long

One circular needle size U.S. 9 (5.5 mm), 16"/40.5cm long or size to obtain gauge

One set of double pointed needles (dpn) size U.S. 9 (5.5 mm)

Cable needle (cn)

Stitch marker

Yarn needle


GAUGE

In cable pattern using larger needles, 18 sts (slightly stretched) and 19 rows = 4"/10 cm
 

ABBREVIATIONS

k2tog (dec): Knit 2 sts together through the front loops.

M2: Make 2 (= 2 sts inc) – Lift strand between needles to LH needle and knit through front loop and then knit through back loop.

STITCHES USED

C2F: Slip next st to cable needle (cn), hold to front, k1, k1 from cn.

C4F: Slip next 2 sts to cn, hold to front, k2, k2 from cn.

HAT

With smaller circular needle, CO 65 (70) sts.  Place marker, join.

Ribbing
Rnd 1: (P3, k2) 13 (14) times.
Rnd 2: (P3, C2F) 13 (14) times.

Rnds 3 and 4: Rep Rnd 1.

Rnd 5: Rep Rnd 2.

Rnds 6-8: Rep last 3 rnds.

Rnd 9: (P3, k1,M2, k1) 13 (14) times—91 (98) sts.

Change to larger circular needle.

Rnd 10: (P3, k4) 13 (14) times.
Rnd 11: (P3, C4F) 13 (14) times.

Rnds 12-14: Rep Rnd 10.

Rnds 15-38: Rep Rnds 11-14, six times more.

Shape crown

Note: Change to dpns when necessary.

Rnd 1: (P2tog, p1, C4F) 13 (14) times—78 (84) sts.

Rnds 2-4: (P2, k4) 13 (14) times.

Rnd 5: (P2tog, k4) 13 (14) times—65 (70) sts.

Rnds 6-8: (P1, k4) 13 (14) times.

Rnd 9: [P1, slip next 2 sts to cn, hold to front, k next 2 sts tog, then k2tog from cn (2 sts dec)] 13 (14) times—39 (42) sts.

Rnd 10: (P1, k2) 13 (14) times.
Cut yarn leaving a 8-10"/20.5–25.5cm tail. Thread tail into needle and run yarn through remaining loops on needles. Pull tightly and secure.

 

FINISHING
