MATERIALS
Caron International's Fabulous (100% nylon; 1.76 oz/50 g, 160 yds/146 m):
#0014 Topaz (MC), 4 balls
#0013 Country Cottage, 1 ball
One pair US size 11 (8 mm), or size to obtain gauge
Crochet hook size US J/10 (6 mm) for fringe
Tapestry needle (tn)

GAUGE
In Stockinette stitch, 12 sts = 4"/10 cm, slightly stretched
Gauge is not critical for this project; due to the design and yarn structure, fabric will drape and gauge may vary from stated gauge.

STITCHES USED
Stockinette stitch (St st); Knit on RS, purl on WS.

NOTE
Shrug is worked as a rectangle approximately 36" wide by 42" long, then folded in half lengthwise and seamed for the sleeves.
For a finished edge at each side, slip the first stitch of each row.

SHRUG
Using MC, loosely CO 130 sts.
(RS) Begin St st; work even until piece measures 36" from beginning.
BO all sts loosely.

FINISHING
Fold piece in half lengthwise; measure 14" from each side and place a marker for sleeves. Beginning at one side edge, sew CO and BO edges together from edge to sleeve marker. Repeat for opposite side, leaving center open. Using tn, weave in ends.

Fringe
Using both colors, cut strands 15" long. Holding 4 strands of MC together, fold fringe in half. Using crochet hook, * insert hook from WS to RS into first st along one Sleeve edge, pull through loop, insert ends into loop and pull tight against edge; repeat from * across, alternately using 4 strands of MC and 4 strands of CC, attaching in every other stitch, or spacing as desired. Trim Fringe, if desired, to 7" in length.
