MATERIALS
3, 1.75 oz/50 g skeins (each approx 70 yds/77m) of Caron International Feathers yarn in Purple Finch;
1 yd 1¼”-wide ribbon; sewing needle and thread.
One pair size 8 (5mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
For Sweater Machine knitters: use 2.5 keyplate to achieve gauge
Size H crochet hook
GAUGE
15 sts and 24 rows = 4”/10cm over pat st
TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
HAND KNITTING INSTRUCTIONS
PATTERN STITCH (st st)
(over an even number of stitches)
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: Purl. Repeat these 2 rows for pat st.
INSTRUCTIONS
Cast on 2 sts. Work in pat st, increasing one stitch at beg of each knit row over next 38 (44) rows: 21 (24) sts. Inc 1 st at beg of every other knit row over next 22 rows 6 times: 27 (30) sts. Piece should measure approx 10 (11)” long. Place marker at unshaped edge. Work in pat st until piece measures 10” above marker. Place a second marker at unshaped edge. Work reverse shaping along shaped edge: dec 1 st beg of every other knit row over next 22 rows 6 times: 21 (24) sts. Dec 1 st along shaped edge beg every knit row until 2 sts rem. BO.
FINISHING
Work 2 rows sc around all edges. Cut ribbon in half and sew each half to the wrong side of the cast on and bound-off ends of the shawl.
