Please keep in mind that you should always begin with a gauge swatch and be sure to convert yardage for any substitute yarn.

 

MATERIALS
Caron Jewel Box™ 10(12.5, 15) oz. Obisidian or color of your choice.
Size 9 knitting needles or size to reach gauge below.

 

GAUGE
Using 9 needles, in St st: 14 sts and 22 rows = 4"/10cm.
TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.

 

STITCHES USED
Stockinette stitch (St st): Knit side = RS.

 

BACK
CO 64 (70,78) sts; beg St st.Work even until piece measures 12 (13, 14)" from beg, end WS row.
Shape Armholes: (RS) BO 5(6,7) sts beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st ea side every other row 5(6,7) times. – 44(46,50) sts rem. Work even until armhole measures 5" from beg of shaping, end with a WS
row.
Shape Neck: (RS) Work across first 16 (17, 19) sts, join a second ball of yarn and bind off next 12 sts, work to end. Working both sides at same time, at ea neck edge, dec 2 sts once, then dec 1 st every other row 4 (5, 7) times – 10 sts remain each shoulder. Work even until armhole measures 8 (8.5, 9)" from beg of shaping. BO.

 

FRONT
Work same as for back.

 

FINISHING
Block pieces to measurements. Join shoulder seams. Sew side seams. Weave in ends.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
Hand washing and drying: Turn inside out and wash gently in warm water using a mild detergent. Gently rinse well in cold water. Lay flat on a towel and roll in towel to remove excess water. DO NOT WRING, STRETCH OR HANG TO DRY.

 

HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS
When using Jewel Box, be sure to tie a knot at the beginning of each skein and at both yarn ends when joining. A small amount of shedding can be expected when using this yarn under normal conditions.
