MATERIALS
Caron Jewel Box™ 64% acrylic, 20% rayon, 16% polyester; 2.5oz/70.9g, 100yds/92m):
2 skeins in #0002 Moonstone; 7mm (US size K/10.5) crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge
GAUGE
Using 7mm crochet hook, in patt: 10 sts and 8 rows = 4"/10 cm
STITCHES USED
Front post single crochet (FPsc): (RS) Insert hook from front-to-back-to-front around the post of the designated st, yo, draw yarn through st, yo, draw yarn through 2 loops (lps) on hook.
Half-double crochet (hdc): Yo, insert hook into foundation chain or st, yo, draw yarn through chain or st (3 lps on hook), yo, pull yarn through all 3 lps to complete hdc.
HAT
Note: Hat is worked in-the-round.
Crown: Ch 3, join to form loop.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 8 hdc in loop, join to first hdc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, work 2 hdc in ea st around, join to first hdc 16 hdc.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, work 2 hdc in ea st around, join to first hdc 32 hdc.
Rnds 4 and 8: Ch 1, hdc in ea st around, join to first hdc.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, * hdc in next st, work 2 hdc in next st; rep from * around, join to first hdc 54 hdc.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, * hdc in next 2 sts, work 2 hdc in next st; rep from * around, join to first hdc 67 hdc.
Rnd 7 (RS): Ch 1, work FPsc in ea st around, join to first FPsc.
Rnds 9, 11 and 13: Ch 1, hdc in ea st around, join to first hdc.
Rnds 10, 12 and 14: Ch 1, hdc in the back loop of ea st around, join to first hdc.
Rnd 15: Rep Rnd 9. Fasten off.
Weave in ends.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
Hand washing and drying: Turn inside out and wash gently in warm water using a mild detergent. Gently rinse well in cold water. Lay flat on a towel and roll in towel to remove excess water. DO NOT WRING, STRETCH OR HANG TO DRY.
HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS
When using Jewel Box, be sure to tie a knot at the beginning of each skein and at both yarn ends when joining. A small amount of shedding can be expected when using this yarn under normal conditions.
