dc2tog-over-5: Double crochet 2 together worked over 5 sts—Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (2 loops on hook), skip next 3 stitches, yarn over, insert hook in next stitch and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook. Note: The 3 stitches skipped between the legs of the dc2tog may be 3 chains (in Row 1), or (ch 1, dctog, ch 1) (in even-numbered rows).

dc2tog-over-3: Double crochet 2 together worked over 3 sts—Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook, skip next stitch, yarn over, insert hook in next stitch and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

NOTES

1. Throw is worked with 2 strands of yarn held together throughout.

2. To add a new strand, drop old strand before last yarn over of last stitch of row. Hold new strand together with remaining strand. Yarn over with new strand and remaining strand, draw through loops on hook to complete stitch. Fasten off old strand. Proceed with new strand and remaining strand held together.

THROW

With 2 strands of A held together, ch 124.

Row 1: Dc in 6th ch from hook, [ch 1, sk next ch, dc in next ch] 3 times, ch 1, sk next ch, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next ch, *[ch 1, sk next ch, dc in next ch] 3 times, ch 1, sk next ch, dc2tog-over-5, [ch 1, sk next ch, dc in next ch] 3 times, ch 1, sk next ch, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next ch; repeat from * across to last 10 ch, [ch 1, sk next ch, dc in next ch] 5 times, turn—6 'waves'.

Row 2: Ch 3, sk next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc, [dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc] 4 times, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next ch-3 sp, *[dc in next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp] 3 times, dc2tog-over-5, [dc in next ch-1 sp, dc in next dc] 3 times, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in next st; repeat from * across to last 5 ch-sps (including turning ch-sp), [dc in next dc, dc in next ch-1 sp] 4 times, dc in next dc, dc in 4th ch of turning ch. Rows 9 and 10: With 2 strands of C held together, repeat Rows 3 and 4. Cut 1 strand of C and pick up 1 strand of A.

Rows 11 and 12: With 1 strand each of A and C held together, repeat Rows 3 and 4. Cut last strand of C and pick up 1 strand of A.

Rows 13 and 14: With 2 strands of A held together, repeat Rows 3 and 4. Cut 1 strand of C and pick up 1 strand of A.

Repeat Rows 3–14 two more times.

Repeat Rows 3–12 once more.

Fasten off C and A.

FINISHING

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends. Block lightly, if desired.
