MATERIALS

Caron International's Simply Soft Quick (100% acrylic; 3 oz/85 g, 50 yds/46 m):
#0018 Lemonade (A), 3 balls,
#0014 Grape (B), 4 balls,
#0017 Mango (C), 3 balls,
#0019 Blue Mint (D), 5 balls
#0012 Watermelon (E), 3 balls
Knitting needles: One size US 11 (8 mm) circular, 36" long, or size to obtain gauge
Split-ring stitch markers
Crochet hook size US J/10 (6 mm)
Tapestry needle (tn)

GAUGE
In Stitch pattern, 13 sts and 16 rows = 4"/10 cm, Gauge is not critical for this project.

SPECIAL TERMS
M1: Insert right-hand needle from back to front under strand between st just worked and next st, purl strand through the front loop, twisting the stitch to prevent a hole – 1 stitch increased.
K1-f/b: Knit into the front loop, then the back loop of next st, drop st from left-hand needle – 1 stitch increased.
P1-f/b: Purl into the front loop, then the back loop of next st, drop st from left-hand needle – 1 stitch increased.

STITCHES USED
Single crochet (sc)
Stitch Pattern (multiple of 3 sts +2)
Row 1 (RS): K1, * k3, pass first knit st over the second and third sts; repeat from * across to last st, k1.
Row 2: P1, * M1, p2, repeat from * across to last st, p1.
Row 3: K2, * k3, pass first knit st over second and third sts; repeat from * across.
Row 4: P2, * M1, p2; repeat from * across.
Repeat Rows 1 – 4 for St patt, changing colors every Row 2 and 4).
Color Sequence: In St patt, work 2 rows A, 2 rows B, 2 rows C, 2 rows D, and 2 rows E; repeat from * for length.

NOTE
Blanket is worked back and forth on circular needle without joining; border is worked in-the-round.

HELPFUL
1. When picking up sts for border, place markers along edges at even intervals, and pick up the same number of sts in each
section.
2. Use a different color marker for beginning of round if beginning of round is at one of the corners.

BLANKET
Using A, CO 116 sts; purl 1 (WS) row.
(RS) Begin St patt; work even until piece measures approximately 40" from beginning, end with a WS row using A.
Bind off in knit using A.

BORDER
With RS facing, using D, pick up and knit sts evenly around entire outside edge, approximately 1 st per st on CO and BO edges,
and 3 sts for every 4 rows along sides; place a marker (pm) in each corner st and move it up each round; pm for beginning of round.
Rnd 1: * Knit to 1 st before corner st; k1-f/b, knit corner st, k1-f/b (2 sts increased); repeat from * around.
Rnd 2: * Purl to 1 st before corner st; p1-f/b, purl corner st, p1-f/b (2 sts increased); repeat from * around.
Rnds 3 and 4: Repeat Rnds 1 and 2.
Bind off all sts loosely in knit.

FINISHING
Edging: With RS facing, using hook and D, ch 1, sc in each st around, join with slip st to beg sc.
Fasten off.
Using tn, weave in all ends.
