FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

Neck wrap measures approximately 15"/38cm circumference (around neck) by 9"/23cm tall

 

MATERIALS

Caron International's Simply Soft® (100% Acrylic): 8 oz (A), 3 oz (B)

Shown in: #9730 Autumn Red (A); #9727 Black (B)

One size US H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

2 black buttons—1"/25mm diameter

Yarn needle

 

GAUGE

In double crochet, 16 sts and 8 rows = 4"/10cm;

In single crochet, 15 1/2 rows = 4"/10cm.

STITCHES USED

Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st)

 

NOTE

To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Proceed with new color. Fasten off old color.

 

NECKWRAP

 

Neck Cuff

With A, ch 16.

Row 1 (WS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across, turn—15 sc.

Rows 2–4: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each sc across, turn.

Row 5 (buttonhole row): Ch 1, working in back loops only, ch 1, sc in first 2 sc, ch 2 , sk next 2 sc, sc in next 7 sc, ch 2, sk next 2 sc, sc in last 2 sc, turn—11 sc and 2 ch-2 sps (buttonholes).

Row 6: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each sc and ch across, turn.

Rows 7–63: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each sc across, turn.

Row 64 (RS): Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each sc across, do not turn. Do not fasten off.

Note: Piece should measure about 16 1/2"/42cm from beginning.

Ruffle Base

Row 1 (RS): Working in ends of rows across long edge of neck cuff, sc in end of each row across long edge to last row, 2 sc in end of last row, turn—65 sc.

Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in next sc, *ch 1, sk next sc, dc in next sc; repeat from * to last sc, dc in last sc, turn—34 dc and 31 ch-sps.

Row 3: Ch 3, dc in next dc, *ch 1, sk next ch-sp, dc in next dc; repeat from * to last dc, dc in last dc.

Rows 4–6: Ch 3, dc in next dc, *ch 2, sk next ch-sp, dc in next dc; repeat from * to last dc, dc in last dc.

Fasten off.

 

Ruffle I

Row 1: With RS facing, join A with sl st around post of first st of Ruffle Base Row 2, ch 3, 3 dc around same st, working across Base Row 2, 4 dc in each ch-1 sp across, 4 dc around post of last dc, turn—132 dc.

Rows 2–5: Ch 3, dc in each dc across; change to B in last st of Row 5, turn.

Row 6: With B, ch 1, 2 sc in each dc across. Fasten off.

 

Ruffle II

Row 1 (WS): With WS facing, join A with sl st around post of first st of Ruffle Base Row 4, ch 3, 3 dc around same st, working across Base Row 4, 5 dc in each ch-2 sp across, 4 dc around post of last dc, turn—163 dc.

Rows 2–5: Ch 3, dc in each dc across, turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each dc across; change to B in last st, turn.

Row 7: With B, ch 1, 2 sc in each dc across. Fasten off.

 

Ruffle III

Row 1 (WS): With WS facing, join A with sl st around post of first st of Ruffle Base Row 6, ch 3, 3 dc around same st, working across Base Row 6, 6 dc in each ch-2 sp across, 4 dc around post of last dc, turn—194 dc.

Rows 2–7: Work same as Rows 2–7 of Ruffle II.

 

FINISHING

Sew buttons on edge of neck cuff, opposite buttonholes. Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
