SPECIAL TERMS

end-dec: decrease at end of row –  work to last 2 single crochets (and the ch-1 space between them); yarn over, insert hook in next sc, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through two loops on hook; skip the ch-1 space; yarn over, insert hook in next sc, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through two loops on hook; yarn over and draw through all three loops on hook (2 sts decreased).

Repeat Pattern Stitch Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures 9"/23 cm from beginning, end with a RS row—70 (78, 86, 94, 102) dc.

Shape Armholes

Row 1 (WS): Ch 1, slip st in first 6 (6, 6, 6, 8) dc, sc in space before next dc, *ch 1, sc between the 2 dc of next 2-dc group; repeat from * to last 6 (6, 6, 6, 8) dc; leave last 6 (6, 6, 6, 8) dc unworked, turn—30 (34, 38, 42, 44) sc, and 29 (33, 37, 41, 43) ch-1 spaces.

Row 2 (RS): Beg-dec; [2 dc in next sc] to last 2 sc; end-dec, turn—54 (62, 70, 78, 82) dc.

Repeat last row 0 (1, 2, 3, 3) more times, turn—54 (58, 62, 66, 70) dc.

Work even in Pattern Stitch until armhole measures 7 (7, 8, 8, 8 1/2)"/18 (18, 20.5, 20.5, 21.5) cm, end with WS row.

Shape Right Shoulder

Shape Left Shoulder

Skip 13 (13, 13, 15, 15) unworked ch-1 spaces following first shoulder (for back neck), join MC with slip st in next sc.

Row 1 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as dc), 2 dc in next 2 (3, 3, 3, 3) sc, 2 hdc in next 2 (2, 3, 3, 3) sc, 2 sc in next 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) sc, sc in last sc, turn—14 (16, 18, 18, 20) sts.

Row 2 (WS): Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off.

LEFT FRONT

With MC, ch 36 (40, 44, 48, 52) sts.

Shape Shoulder

SLEEVE (make 2)

With MC, ch 44 (44, 48, 48, 52) sts.

Work Pattern Stitch Foundation Row—22 (22, 24, 24, 26) sc, and 21 (21, 23, 23, 25) ch-1 spaces.

Work Pattern Stitch Rows 1 and 2—42 (42, 46, 46, 50) dc.

Shape Sleeve

Row 1 (RS): Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in first sc (increase made), [2 dc in next sc] to last sc, 2 dc in last sc (increase made), turn—44 (44, 48, 48, 52) dc.

Rows 2–4: Work even in Pattern Stitch.

Rows 3–5: Work even in Pattern Stitch.

Row 6: Beg-dec; [2 dc in next sc] to last 2 sc; end-dec, turn—38 (38, 42, 42, 42) sts.

Repeat Rows 3–6 5 (5, 6, 6, 7) more times—18 (18, 18, 18, 14) dc.

Next Row (WS): Ch 1, sc in each st across. Fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Block pieces to measurements. Sew shoulder seams. Set in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams.

Edging

Join MC in lower right front corner.

Row 1: Work sc in end of each sc row and 2 sc in end of each dc row to neck shaping; 2 sc in corner; sc in end of each sc row and 2 sc in end of each dc row to back neck; 2 sc in each sc across back neck; continue as established down left neck to beginning of shaping; 2 sc in corner; continue down left front, turn.

Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st to corner at beginning of neck shaping, 2 sc in next st; sc in each sc to beginning of neck shaping on Right Front, 2 sc in next st, sc in next st, ch 2, skip next 2 sts (for buttonhole), sc in each remaining st, turn.

Row 3: Sc in each sc and ch across, increasing in each corner. Fasten off.

Sew button opposite buttonhole.

Skirt

Thread 68 (76, 84, 92, 100) beads on CC. With RS facing, join CC with sc in lower left front corner.

Row 1 (RS): Working across opposite side of Foundation Row, ch 3, skip 2 rows of edging, sc in next ch-1 space, [ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next ch-1 space] 16 (18, 20, 22, 24) times, ch 3, skip side seam, sc in next ch-1 space, [ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next ch-1 space] 34 (38, 42, 46, 50) times, ch 3, sc in side seam, [ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next ch-1 space] 17 (19, 21, 23, 25) times, ch 3, skip 2 rows of edging, sc in last row of edging, turn—71 (79, 87, 95, 103) ch-3 spaces.

Row 2 (WS): Ch 5, sc in first ch-3 space, *V-st in next ch-3 space, sc in next ch-3 space; repeat from * across, turn—35 (39, 43, 47, 51) V-sts.

Row 3: Ch 3, ([tr, ch 1] 3 times, tr) in next V-st, *skip next sc, ([tr, ch 1] 3 times, tr) in next V-st; repeat from * to last sc, dc in last sc, turn.

Row 4: Ch 1, *2 sc in next ch-1 space, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-1 space, 2 sc in next ch-1 space, slide bead up against last sc made; repeat from * across, turn.

Row 5: Ch 3, ([tr, ch 1] 3 times, tr) in next ch-3 space, *skip next 6 sc, ([tr, ch 1] 3 times, tr) in next ch-3 space; repeat * across, dc in last sc, turn.

Rows 6 and 7: Repeat Rows 4 and 5.

Row 8: Ch 1, *2 sc in next ch-1 space, (2 sc, ch 2, 2 sc) in next ch-1 space, 2 sc in next ch-1 space; repeat from * across. Fasten off.

Sleeve Lace

Thread 22 (22, 24, 24, 26) beads on CC. With RS facing, join CC with sc in sleeve seam.

Round 1: Working along opposite side of foundation ch, [ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next ch-1 space] 21 (21, 23, 23, 25) times, ch 3; join with slip st in first sc—22 (22, 24, 24, 26) ch-3 spaces.

Round 2: [Sc in next ch-3 space, V-st in next ch-3 space] 11 (11, 12, 12, 13) times; join with slip st in first sc.

Round 3: Slip st in next V-st, ch 5 (counts as tr, ch 1), ([tr, ch 1] twice, tr) in same V-st, *skip next sc, ([tr, ch 1] 3 times, tr) in next V-st; repeat from * to last sc, skip last sc; join with slip st in 4th ch of beginning ch, turn.

Round 4 (WS): *2 sc in next ch-1 space, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-1 space, 2 sc in next ch-1 space, slide bead up against last sc made; repeat from * around; join with slip st in first sc, turn.
