SPECIAL TERMS

sc2tog: Single crochet 2 together—Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, (2 loops on hook), insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

shell: Shell stitch—(Sc, ch 1, dc) in indicated ch-space or stitch.

sl-Cl: Slanting cluster—[Yarn over, insert hook around posts of 2 dc just made, yarn over and draw up a loop] 3 times, yarn over and draw through first 6 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through remaining 2 loops on hook. Notes: To insert hook around the posts of the 2 dc just made, gently press the 2 dc together and insert the hook around the posts (as if just one post). Bring the hook in front of the 2 dc and insert it from front to back and then to front again around the posts.

 

NOTE

Jacket is made in five pieces, back, two fronts, and two sleeves. The pieces are worked from the lower edge upwards. The first row of the yoke is worked across the top of these five pieces, the yoke is then worked upwards to neck.

Repeat last row until band measures approximately 2"/5cm. Fasten off.

Buttonhole Band
Row 1:
With RS facing, join yarn with sl st in corner to work across right front edge, ch 1, work sc evenly spaced across right front edge, turn.

Rows 2-4: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.

Place stitch markers across last row (for button placement), as follows: Place first marker in 8th sc below neck edge, sk next 13 sc, place marker in next sc.

Row 5: Ch 1, [sc in each sc to next marker, ch 2 loosely, sk next 2 sc] twice, sc in each sc to end of row, turn. Remove markers.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.

Repeat last row until band measures approximately 2"/5cm. Fasten off.

 

ASSEMBLY

Sew side and sleeve/raglan seams.

 

YOKE & SCARF

Note: If you are left-handed, join right scarf chain first (join to top corner of right front band and ch 50, then fasten off). Then join left front chain (join to top corner of left front band, ch 61) and then proceed with Row 1).

Left Scarf Chain: Join yarn with sl st in top corner of left front band, ch 60. Fasten off.

Right Scarf Chain: With RS facing, join yarn with sl st in top corner of front band, ch 51. Do not fasten off.
Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, work 23 (25, 27, 29, 31, 33) sc evenly spaced across front to first sleeve seam, 30 (30, 32, 32, 34, 34) sc evenly spaced across first sleeve, 40 (44, 48, 52, 56, 60) sc evenly spaced across back, 30 (30, 32, 32, 34, 34) sc evenly spaced across 2nd sleeve, 23 (25, 27, 29, 31, 33) sc evenly spaced across other front, sc in each ch of other scarf ch, turn— 256 (264, 276, 284, 296, 304) sc.

Row 2: Ch 1, working in front loops only, sc in each sc across, turn.

Row 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in first 1 (2, 2, 0, 0, 1) sc, *dc in next 2 sc, sl-Cl around previous 2 dc, dc in next sc; repeat from * across to last 2 (3, 3, 1, 1, 2) sc, dc in last 2 (3, 3, 1, 1, 2) sc, turn—84 (86, 90, 94, 98, 100) clusters.

Row 4: Ch 1, *sc in each dc to next cluster, sk next cluster; repeat from * until all clusters have been skipped, sc in each remaining dc across, turn—256 (264, 276, 284, 296, 304) sc.

Row 5: Ch 3, dc in each sc across, turn.

Place 20 stitch markers, across last row worked, evenly spaced over fronts, sleeves, and back. Do not place any of the 20 markers over the front bands or scarves.

Row 6 (decrease row): Ch 1, *sc in each dc across to next marker, remove the marker, sc2tog; repeat from * until all markers have been removed, sc in each dc across to end of row—236 (244, 256, 264, 276, 284) sc.
Row 7: Ch 3, dc in each sc across, turn.
Row 8 (form keyhole for scarf): Ch 1, sc in each sc across to 12 dc before front band; ch 12 loosely, sk next 12 dc (keyhole made), sc in each remaining dc across, turn.
Row 9: Ch 3, work dc in each sc and ch across, turn.

Place 19 stitch markers, across last row worked, evenly spaced over fronts, sleeves, and back. Do not place any of the 19 markers over the front bands or scarves.

Row 10 (decrease row): Ch 1, *sc in each dc across to next marker, remove the marker, sc2tog; repeat from * until all markers have been removed, sc in each dc across to end of row—217 (225, 237, 245, 257, 265) sc.

Row 11: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in first 1 (2, 2, 0, 0, 1) sc, *dc in next 2 sc, sl-Cl around previous 2 dc, dc in next sc; repeat from * across to last 2 (3, 3, 1, 1, 2) sc, dc in last 2 (3, 3, 1, 1, 2) sc, turn—71 (73, 77, 81, 85, 97) clusters.

Rows 12–18: Repeat Rows 4–10—178 (186, 198, 206, 218, 226) sc.

Rows 19 and 20: Repeat Rows 3 and 4.

Row 21: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each dc across.

 

FINISHING
