In rib pat, 18 sts and 27 rnds = 4”/10cm (slightly stretched)

HAT 

With circular needle and B, loosely CO 90 sts. Join, placing a marker at beg of rnd.

Rnds 1-18: *K3, p3; rep from * around. (Note: for larger (taller) hat, work additional rounds of k3, p3 rib.)

Note: At end of Rnd 18 (unless made taller), piece should measure approx 3”/7.5cm from CO edge.

Cut yarn, leaving a 6”/15cm tail. Join C.

Rnds 19-29: *K3, p3; rep from * around.

Note: At end of Rnd 29, (unless made taller) piece should measure approx 5”/12.5cm from CO edge. 

Cut yarn leaving a 6”/15cm tail. Join A.

Rnds 30-39:  *K3, p3; rep from * around.

Note: At end of Rnd 39 (unless made taller), piece should measure approx 7”/18cm. 

Crown 

Note: Begin working crown with circular needle, changing to dpns when necessary.

Rnd 1: *K2tog, k1, p3; rep from * around—75 sts.

Rnd 2: *K2, p3; rep from * around.

Rnd 3: *K2tog, p3; rep from * around—60 sts.

Rnd 4: *K1, p3; rep from * around. 

Rnd 5: *K1, p2tog, p1; rep from * around—45 sts.

Rnd 6: *K1, p2; rep from * around. 

Rnd 7: *K1, p2tog; rep from * around—30 sts.

Rnd 8: *K2tog; rep from * around—15 sts.

Rnd 9: *K2tog; rep from * around to last st, k1—8 sts

Cut yarn, leaving an 8”/20.5cm) tail. Thread tail through yarn needle and weave through rem sts. Gather tightly and secure to WS. 

 

FINISHING
