MATERIALS

Caron International's Simply Soft
(100% Acrylic, 6 oz/170g, 315 yd/288 m):
#9759 Ocean: 1 skein

One circular needle size U.S. 11 (8mm), 16"/40.5cm long, or size to obtain gauge

Stitch marker

Yarn needle

 

GAUGE

In Diagonal Rib, 12 sts and 18 rows = 4"/10 cm

 

STITCHES USED

Diagonal Rib (multiple of 4 sts):

Rnds 1 and 2: *K2, p2; rep from * around.

Rnds 3 and 4: *P1, k2, p1; rep from * around.

Rnds 5 and 6: *P2, k2; rep from * around.

Rnds 7 and 8: *K1, p2, k1; rep from * around.

Repeat Rnds 1-8 for Diagonal Rib.

 

NOTE

Cowl is made using 2 strands of yarn held together throughout. 

One skein will make a cowl by working with both ends of the skein at the same time; or use 2 skeins and make 2 cowls.

COWL

Holding 2 strands of yarn together, CO 76 sts. Join to work in the rnd, taking care not to twist sts; place marker at beginning of rnd. 

Rnds 1-48: Repeat Rnds 1-8 of Diagonal Rib 6 times. 

Rnd 49: Repeat Rnd 1 of Diagonal Rib. 

BO all sts loosely in pattern.

 

FINISHING
