MATERIALS

Caron International's Simply Soft
(100% Acrylic, 6 oz/170g, 315 yd/288 m):

#9730 Autumn Red (MC)

Caron International's Simply Soft Party (99% Acrylic/1% Polyester, 3oz/85g, 164yds/150m):

#0001 Snow Sparkle (A), #0003 Spring Sparkle (B), #0002 Fuchsia Sparkle (C), #0006 Purple Sparkle (D),   

small amounts as specified for each project

 

One pair each U.S. size 6(4mm) needles or size to obtain gauge

Crochet hook size F/5 (3.75mm)

Embellish Knit! (for wreath only)

Tapestry needle

Sewing needle and thread

Craft glue

For added decoration: tiny buttons, beads, pieces of yarn, ribbon, felt, etc.

Optional: Tiny wire hangers (available online at Red Lead PaperWorks)

 

GAUGE

In St st, 18 sts and 26 rows = 4”/10 cm

Notes

When using Simply Soft Party, add extra weight and pull end down slightly as you work.

Wreath

Using Embellish Knit with A or B, make an 18"/4.5cm cord. Close end. (12"/30.5cm yarn tail is needed on both ends.)

Twist cord: Anchor one end and make 20-25 clockwise twists. Fold in half and let twist together. With ends together, tie yarn tails to secure twist.

Using tapestry needle, thread one yarn tail through fold of twist to make circle. Tie ends together. Hide ends, trim and glue. Even out twists.

Finishing

Glue beads and buttons as desired. Add additional yarn for top bow or hanger.

 

MINI KNITTING BAG

Additional materials needed:

Colors MC and A; 2 toothpicks, 2 small beads.

Knitting Bag

Using MC, CO 15 sts.

Beginning on RS work in St st until piece measures 3 ½”/9cm, ending with a WS row. BO.

Finishing

Fold knitted piece in half, with WS’s tog to form bag. Sew side seams.

Strap: Using 6 strands of MC, make a 17"/43cm braid. Knot and trim ends to look like fringe. Using sewing needle and thread, tack in place along side seams. Hide ends, trim and glue.

Yarn ball: Using A, make a 1"/2.5cm ball of yarn and place inside bag, gluing to secure. Let end decorate front of bag and glue in place.

Needles: Cut 2 toothpicks to desired size and glue small beads on ends. Glue and insert into yarn ball.

           

MINI TOP KNOT CAP

Additional materials needed:

Colors MC and A; beads, if desired.

Cap

Using A, CO 31 sts.

Rolled edge: Beginning on RS, work in St st for 4 rows.

Top: Change to MC and work even until piece measures 3 ¼”/8.5cm from beg, ending with a WS row.

(Optional: Add random purl sts to desired knit rows for texture.)  K2tog across next row—16 sts. P 1 row.

Cut yarn leaving a 12"/30.5cm tail. Using yarn needle, thread tail through live sts, gather tightly and secure. Sew back seam.

Top knot: Using A, make a 2 ½”/6.5 braid or crochet chain. Tie into knot and add to top of cap.  Add additional beads, if desired. Tie off ends, hide and glue.

 

MINI BLING CAP

Additional materials needed:

WY and MC, seed beads.

Notes

Cap is knit sideways in Reverse St st with beads on the RS.

Bling Cap

Using WY, CO 15 sts. Work in St st for 4 rows. Break off.

String 20 seed beads onto MC and push back until ready to use.

Begin Reverse St st with beads:

Rows 1-3: Using MC, k 1 row, p 1 row, k 1 row.

Row 4: P3, *insert needle into next st as to p, push bead up to the front of the work and p the st*, p7, rep from * to *, p3.

Rows 5-7: With MC, k 1 row, p 1 row, k1 row.

Row 8: P7, insert needle into next st as to p, push bead up to the front of the work and p the st, p7.     

Rep Rows 1-8 until piece measures 7"/18cm from beg, ending with p row.

Back seam: Fold piece so purl sides are tog. *Lift first MC st from WY and place it on left needle, knit it tog with the st on left needle; rep from * until all sts are knit tog. BO, leaving a 12"/30.5cm tail.

Using yarn needle, run tail in and out of top row sts. Gather tightly and secure.

Finishing

Turn inside out so beads are on outside. Let bottom edge roll naturally. Tie off ends, hide and glue.

Decorate with bow made of a 7"/18cm string of beads. Add to top.

 

MINI SHORT ROW STOCKING

Additional materials needed:

Colors MC and A; small beads and buttons.

 

Stocking

Using A, CO 20 sts.

Rolled cuff: Beginning on RS, work in St st for 4 rows.

Top: Change to MC. Work even in St st until piece measures 3"/7.5cm from CO edge, ending with a WS row.

Heel (short rows): K9, sl 1 and place 10 sts on holder. Turn, wrap yarn around sl st. Sl wrapped st onto right needle again and place yarn in front of work. Sl next st. p to last st. With yarn in front, sl st to right needle. turn, wrap yarn around sl st. Sl wrapped st to right needle and place yarn in back of work. Sl next st. Cont in this manner until 6 rows are completed and 4 unwrapped sts rem. K to 3 unwrapped sts. Pick up wrap along with st and knit both tog. Wrap next st as before. Cont in this manner until 6 rows are completed and all wrapped sts have been worked. K 1 row with all 20 sts.

Foot and Toe: Work even in St st for 3 rows. Change to A and work even for 4 rows.

Cut yarn leaving long tail. Use yarn needle to thread tail through live toe sts. Sew side seam. Gather toe and secure. Tie off ends, hide and glue.

Finishing

Using A, make a 4"/10cm braid or crochet chain for hanger. Attach to top and decorate as desired. Add "toys" (decorative buttons) to inside of stocking.

 

MINI GIRLY TOP

Additional materials needed:

Colors A and C or D; 2 beads or small buttons.

 

TOP

Front

Using C or D (as desired), CO 15 sts. Beginning on RS, work in St st for 2 ¼”/5.5cm, ending with a WS row. Change to A and work even until piece measures 3 ½”/7.5cm from CO edge, ending with a WS row. BO.

Back

Using desired color, CO 15 sts. Beginning on RS, work in St st for 3 ½”/7.5cm. BO.   

Finishing

Sew Front and Back together at side seams stopping at color A for armholes.

Armholes: Cut eighteen 6"/15cm pieces of A for sleeve decoration. Tie one piece (each side) at end shoulder sts to attach front to back. Add 8 pieces around each armhole tying with overhand knots. Snug knots tightly. Trim to ¼”/7mm.

Let neckline roll naturally. Add 2 beads or tiny buttons to top Front. Tie off ends, hide and glue.

 

MINI FAIR ISLE VEST

Additional materials needed:

Colors MC and A.

Front

Using MC, CO 15 sts. Beginning on RS, work in St st for 10 rows.

Fair Isle: Work 4 rows of chart.

Change to A and work in St st until piece measures 3 ½”/9cm from CO edge, ending with a WS row. BO.

Back

Using MC, CO 15 sts and work same as Front until piece measures 3 ½”/9cm from CO edge. BO.

Finishing

Sew Front and Back together at side seams stopping at Fair Isle for armholes. Using sewing needle and thread, sew Front to Back for ¼”/7mm at each shoulders leaving center open for neckline. Let neckline roll naturally. Tie off ends, hide and glue.
