MATERIALS

Caron International's Simply Soft (100% Acrylic, 6 oz/170g, 315 yd/288 m):
#9756 Lavender Blue (A): 2 skeins

#9756 Sunshine (B): 1 skein

#9702 Off White (C): 2 skeins

One size US H-8 (5mm), or size to obtain gauge.
Yarn needle

 

GAUGE

In double crochet, 12 sts and 7 rows = 4"/10cm.

Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st)

NOTES

1. Blanket is worked with two colors throughout. Only one color is worked at a time, the other color is carried under the stitches of the working color. For a clean look, gently pull the yarn before changing colors, to ensure no lose yarn sticks out.

2. To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over; yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Carry color not in use UNDER the stitches of the working color.

3. Blanket can be worked by following written instructions, or referring to color chart.

 

BLANKET

With A, ch 101.

Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each remaining ch across, turn—100 sc.

Row 2: With A, ch 2 (does not count as dc here and throughout), dc in first 4 sts; *change to C, dc in next 4 sts; change to A, dc in next 4 sts; repeat from * across; change to C, turn—25 stripes of A, and 24 stripes of C.

Row 3: With C, ch 2, dc in first st; *change to A, dc in next 4 sts; change to C, dc in next 4 sts; repeat from * across to 3 last sts; change to A, dc in last 3 sts, turn.

Row 4: With A, ch 2, dc in first 2 sts; *change to C, dc in next 4 sts; change to A, dc in next 4 sts; repeat from * across to last 2 sts; change to C, dc in last 2 sts, turn.

Row 5: With C, ch 2, dc in first 3 sts; *change to A, dc in next 4 sts; change to C, dc in next 4 sts; repeat from * across to last st; change to A, dc in last st; turn.

Row 6: Repeat Row 4.

Row 7: Repeat Row 3.

Row 8: Repeat Row 2.

Row 9: With C, ch 2, dc in first 4 sts; *change to A, dc in next 4 sts; change to C, dc in next 4 sts; repeat from * across; change to A, turn.

Row 10: With A, ch 2, dc in first st; *change to C, dc in next 4 sts; change to A, dc in next 4 sts; repeat from * across to 3 last sts; change to C, dc in last 3 sts, turn.

Row 11: With C, ch 2, dc in first 2 sts; *change to A, dc in next 4 sts; change to C, dc in next 4 sts; repeat from * across to last 2 sts; change to A, dc in last 2 sts, turn.

Row 12: With A, ch 2, dc in 3 sts; *change to C, dc in next 4 sts; change to A, dc in next 4 sts; repeat from * across to last st; change to C, dc in last st; turn.

Row 13: Repeat Row 11.

Row 14: Repeat Row 10.

Row 15: Repeat Row 9.

Rows 16–29: Repeat Rows 2-15.

Rows 30–43: With B (instead of A) and C, repeat Rows 2-15.

Rows 44–71: With A (instead of B) and C, repeat Rows 2-15 twice.

Row 72: With A, ch 1, sc in each st across. Do not fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Border

Round 1: With A, ch 2, dc evenly spaced around, working 3 dc in each corner; change to B; join with sl st in first dc.

Round 2: With B, ch 1, hdc in each st around, working 3 hdc in each corner; change to C; join with sl st in first hdc.

Round 3: With C, ch 1, hdc in each st around, working 4 hdc in each corner; join with sl st in first hdc.

Round 4: With C, *ch 4, sc in next 3 sts; repeat from * around; join with sl st in first sc.
