GAUGE

In Box stitch, 17 sts and 25 rows = 4"/10cm

Box St (multiple of 4 sts plus 2):

Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.

Row 2: P2, *k2, p2; rep from * to end.

Row 3: P2, *k2, p2; rep from * to end.

Row 4: K2, *p2, k2; rep from * to end.

Rep rows 1-4 for box st.

2x2 rib (multiple of 4 sts plus 2)

Row 1 (RS): *K2, p2; rep from * across, end k2.

Row 2: Knit the knit sts and purl the purl sts as they appear.

Rep last row for 2x2 rib

SPECIAL TECHNIQUES

Right slant dec: K2, k2tog, knit to end

Left slant dec: Work to last 3 sts, ssk , k2.

NOTES

1. Garment is designed with one selvedge stitch worked in St st at all seamed edges.

2. Decrease are worked inside selvedge stitch as follows; K1, k2tog, k to last 2 sts, ssk, k1

 

BACK

Cast on 82 (90, 98, 106, 114) sts.

Keeping 1st and last st in St st throughout, work 2x2 rib for 1 (1, 1, 1 ½, 1 ½)’, end with WS row.

(RS) Beg box st, work even until piece measures 2 (2, 2, 3, 3)” from beg , end with WS row.

Dec row (RS): K2, k2tog, work to last 3 sts, ssk, k2—80 (88, 96, 104, 112) sts.

Rep dec row every 2” three more times– 74 (82, 90, 98, 106) sts.

Work even until piece measures 10 (10, 10, 11, 10” from beg, end with WS row.

Inc row (RS): K2, inc 1 st in next st, work to last 3 sts, inc 1 st in next st, k2—76 (84, 92, 100, 108) sts.

Work even until piece measures 12 (12, 12, 13, 12)” from beg, end with WS row.

Rep inc row—78 (86, 94, 102, 110) sts.

Work even until piece measures 22 (22, 22 ½, 23, 22 ½)” from beg; end with WS row.

Shape armholes

(RS) Bind off 6 (7, 8, 8, 8) sts at beg of next 2 rows—66 (72, 78, 86, 94) sts.

Work even until armhole measures 9 (10, 10 ½, 11, 11 ½)" from beg of shaping; end with WS row.

Place marker each side of center 14 (16, 16, 20, 24) sts for neck.

Shape Right Shoulder and Neck

(RS) Work across 26 (28, 31, 33, 35) sts to marker, place remaining 40 (44, 47, 53, 59) center and left shoulder sts on holder.

(WS) Bind off 3 sts at the neck edge once, then 3 (3, 3, 4, 4) st at neck edge once. Bind off rem 20 (22, 25, 26, 28) sts for right shoulder.

Shape Left Shoulder and Neck

(RS) Place center 14 (16, 16, 20, 24) neck sts on holder; place rem 26 (28, 31, 33, 35) sts on needle joining yarn at neck edge.

Work same as right shoulder and neck, reversing all shaping.

 

LEFT FRONT

With CC1, cast on 38 (42, 46, 50, 54) sts.

(RS) Keeping 1st and last st in St st throughout, work 2x2 rib even for 1 (1, 1, 1 ½, 1 ½)”, end with WS row.

(RS) Beg box st, work even until piece measures 2 (2, 2, 3, 3)”, end with WS row.

Dec row (RS): K2, k2tog, work to end.

Rep dec row every 2” three more times—34 (38, 42, 46, 50) sts.

Work even until piece measures 10 (10, 10, 11, 10)”, end with WS row.

Inc row (RS): K2, inc 1 st in next st, work to end– 36 (40, 44, 48, 52) sts.

Work until piece measures 12 (12, 12, 13, 13)” from beg, end with WS row.

Rep inc row—36 (40, 44, 48, 52) sts.

Work even until piece measures 15 (14 ½, 16, 15 ½, 16)” from beg, end with WS row.

Shape Neck and Armhole

(WS) Dec 1 st at neck edge (PM) on this row, then every 6 rows 0 (0, 0, 6, 7) times, every 8 rows, 4 (3, 3, 4, 5) times, every 10 rows 5 (7, 7, 3, 3) times; AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures same as back to armhole, shape armhole as for back.

Work even until armhole measures same as Back to shoulder shaping, end with RS row. Bind off rem 20 (22, 25, 26, 28) sts for shoulder.

RIGHT FRONT

Work as for Left Front, reversing all shaping (working armhole decs as follows: (RS) Work to last 3 sts, k2).

 

FINISHING

Block pieces to measurements. 

Sew shoulder seams.

Armband

With RS facing, using smaller needle and MC, PU and knit 82 (90, 94, 100, 104) sts around armhole.

Work 2x2 rib for 1 (1 ¼, 1 ½, 2, 2)”.  Bind off in patt.

Sew armbands to underarm.  Sew side seams.

Front Bands and Collar

With RS facing and MC, bet at Right Front lower edge, pick up and knit 62 (65, 71, 70, 72) sts to 1st neck shaping marker, 72 (78, 76, 82, 80) sts along Right Front neck edge, 6 (6, 6, 7, 7) sts along right Back neck, 14 (16, 16, 20, 24) sts from Back neck holder, 6 (6, 6, 7, 7) sts along left Back neck, 72 (78, 76, 82, 80)  sts along left Front to 2nd neck shaping marker, 62 (65, 71, 70, 72) sts to Left Front lower edge –294 (314, 322, 338, 342) sts.

Work even in 2x2 rib until piece measures 3 (4, 4, 4 ½, 5)" from PU row. Bind off all sts loosely in rib.

Tie Belt

Cast on 230 (242, 242, 262, 262), sts. Work in 2x2 rib for 1 (1 ¼, 1 ½, 2, 2)”, end with RS row.

(WS) Bind off knitwise.

Belt Loops 

PM 6” and 8” down from armhole on each side seam.

With crochet hook, sl st to side seam at 1st marker, ch 9, sl st to side seam at 2nd marker. Turn, work 1 sc in each ch st to end. Sl st to side seam to end.

Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
