TECHNIQUE USED: Crochet

 

 

 

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:

Throw measures approximately 43"/109 cm wide x 59"/150 cm long

 


MATERIALS

Caron International's Simply Soft Heather (100% acrylic; 5 oz/141.8 g, 250 yds/228 m skein): 2 skeins (A), 2 skeins (B).

Caron International's Simply Soft (100% acrylic; 6 oz/170 g, 315 yds/288 m skein): 2 skeins (C), 2 skeins (D).

Shown in: #9503 Woodland Heather (A); #9505 Plum Heather (B); #9709 Light Country Blue (C); #9722 Plum Wine (D).

One size US H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge.

Stitch marker

Yarn needle

 

GAUGE

In single crochet, 13 sts and 16 rows = 4"/10 cm;

In pattern stitch, 5 V-sts and 10 rows = 4"/10 cm.

Gauge is not critical for this project.

 

STITCHES USED

Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (slip st).

 

SPECIAL TERM

V-st: V-stitch—(dc, ch 1, dc) in indicated stitch or space.

 

NOTE

To change color: Work last stitch of old color to last yarn over, yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Fasten off old color.

 

THROW

With C, chain 206.

Row 1 (RS): (Dc, ch 1, dc) in 5th ch from hook, *sk next 2 ch, V-st in next ch; repeat from * across to last 2 ch, sk next ch, dc in last ch, turn—67 V-sts.

Rows 2–4: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), V-st in each ch-1 sp across, dc in top of turning ch; change to B in last st.

Repeat Row 2, working in the following color sequence: work *1 row with B, 4 rows with A, 7 rows with D, 2 rows with C, 5 rows with B, 3 rows with A, 2 rows with D, 4 rows with C, 6 rows with B, 2 rows with A, 4 rows with D, 1 row of C, 3 rows B, 7 rows A, 3 rows D, 6 rows C; repeat from * until Throw measures 43"/109 cm. Fasten off.

Border

Round 1: Join D with sc in edge of throw, work sc evenly spaced around all edges, working 3 sc in each corner; join with slip st in first sc.

Rounds 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, working 3 sc in each corner sc; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off.

 

FINISHING

Using yarn needle, weave in all ends. Block lightly, if desired.
