Caron International's Simply Soft Paints (100% acrylic, 4oz/100g, 200yds/132m): 

#0008 Sunset (A), 16 oz

Caron International's Simply Soft  (100% acrylic, 6 oz/170g, 315yds/288m):  
#9730 Autumn Red (B), 24 oz

One size US H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge

Yarn needle

First 4 rounds of motif = 4"/10 cm; complete motif = 8"/20.5 cm.

MOTIF (make 30)

With A, chain 5; join with slip st in first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: Slip st in ring, ch 1, *sc in ring, ch 5, sc in ring, ch 3; repeat from * 3 more times; join with slip st in first sc—8 sc, 4 ch-5 spaces, and 4 ch-3 spaces.

Round 2: (Slip st, ch 1, 9 sc) in first ch-5 space, sc in next ch-3 space, *9 sc in next ch-5 space, sc in next ch-3 space; repeat from * 2 more times; join with slip st in first sc—40 sc.

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same sc as join, *(ch 3, skip next 3 sc, sc in next sc) twice, ch 3, skip next sc, sc in next sc; repeat from * 2 more times, (ch 3, skip next 3 sc, sc in next sc) twice, ch 3, skip next sc; join with slip st in first sc—12 sc and 12 ch-3 spaces.

Round 4: (Slip st, ch 1, 3 sc) in first ch-3 space, 3 sc in next ch-3 space, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-3 space (corner made), *3 sc in next 2 ch-3 spaces, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) (corner made); repeat from * 2 more times; join with slip st in first sc—24 sc, 16 dc, and 4 ch-2 spaces. Fasten off A.

Round 5: Join B with slip st in any corner ch-2 space, ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout), (dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same ch-2 space, dc in each st to next corner ch-2 space, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in corner ch-2 space, dc in each st to next corner ch-2 space; repeat from * 2 more times; join with slip st in top of beginning ch.

Round 6: Ch 2, dc in each dc around, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in each corner ch-2 space; join with slip st in top of beginning ch.

Round 7: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, sc in each dc around, working 3 sc in each corner ch-2 space; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off B.

Round 8: Join A with slip st in center sc of any corner 3-sc group; ch 1, 3 sc in same sc as join, sc in each sc around, working 3 sc in center sc of each corner 3-sc group; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off A.

Round 9: With B, repeat Round 8. Fasten off B.

FINISHING

Arrange motifs into a rectangle five squares wide and six squares long. With B and yarn needle, whipstitch the motifs together.

Border

Round 1 (RS): With RS facing, join B with slip st in center sc of any corner 3-sc group; ch 1, 3 sc in same sc as join, sc evenly around entire throw, working 3 sc in center sc of each corner 3-sc group; join with slip st in first sc.

Round 2: (Slip st, ch 2, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next sc, dc in each sc around, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in center sc of each corner 3-sc group; join with slip st in top of beginning ch.

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in same st as join, sc in each dc around, working 3 sc in each corner ch-2 space; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off B.

Round 4 (RS): Join A with slip st in center sc of any corner 3-sc group; ch 1, 3 sc in same sc as join, sc evenly around entire throw, working 3 sc in center sc of each corner 3-sc group; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off A.

Round 5: With B, repeat Round 4. Fasten off B.

Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
