#0005 Driftwood, 8 oz
One size US H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge
One pair of 6"/15 cm (diameter) round wooden handles
Stitch markers
Yarn needle

In pattern, 16 sts and 6 rows = 4"/10 cm.

Chain 63.
Row 1 (RS): Sc in second ch from hook, sc in each remaining ch across, turn—62 sc.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), *skip next sc, dc in next 3 sc; working behind 3-dc group just made, dc in skipped sc; repeat from * across to last sc, dc in last sc, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in each dc across, turn.
Rows 4–12: Repeat Rows 2 and 3 four more times, then repeat Row 2 once more. Do not fasten off. Place a stitch marker at the beginning and end of last row worked.
Shape Channel for Handle
Row 13: Ch 1, sc in first 5 dc, *skip next 4 dc, sc in next 4 dc; repeat from * across to last dc, sc in last dc, turn—34 sc.
Rows 14–19: Repeat Rows 2 and 3 three times. Do not fasten off.
Attach Handle
Row 20: Hold handle next to last row completed; ch 1, working around handle, sc in each sc across; continue working around handle only, work 80 sc around handle; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off.
FINISHING
With WS facing, whipstitch sides together, beginning at one set of stitch markers and working down side, along bottom, and up opposite side to second set of stitch markers.
Turn bag right side out. Join yarn with sc in top of one side of purse opening, work sc evenly spaced along edge of side of purse opening. Repeat along opposite side of purse opening.
Using yarn needle, weave in ends.
