MATERIALS

Caron International's Simply Soft Party (99% acrylic, 1% polyester; 3oz/85g, 171yds/156m): 2 oz/34g
Shown in: #0007 Black Sparkle

One pair each U.S. sizes 6 (4mm) and 7 (4.5mm) straight needles or size to obtain gauge

4 stitch markers

32 beads (#3 seed beads)

Dental floss threader for threading beads

GAUGE

In St st, using U.S. size 7 (4.5mm) needles, 20 sts and 28 rows = 4"/10cm

 

STITCHES USED

K1, p1 rib

Stockinette stitch (St st)

Bead Stitch: Bring yarn to front, slide bead up to needle, slip next stitch purlwise, bring yarn to back, tighten yarn before working next stitch.

PATTERN STITCH

Bead Pattern (worked over 5 sts):

Row 1 (RS): K2, bead st, k2.

Rows 2, 4 and 6 (WS): Purl.

Row 3: K1, bead st, k1, bead st, k1.

Row 5: Rep Row 1.

Row 7: Knit.

Row 8: Purl.

Rep Rows 1–8 for patt.

 

SPECIAL TERM

k1-f/b: Knit 1 front and back – Knit next st, then knit it through the back loop. (1 st increased)

 

NOTES

Wristlets are worked on two needles. The thumb stitches are added to each side and joined by a seam.

The bead pattern is worked over five marked stitches.

The beads must be large enough to thread the yarn through.

Thread the beads before starting project using a dental floss threader or any beading needle.

LEFT GLOVELET

Thread 16 beads onto yarn.

With larger needles, CO 34 sts.

Change to smaller needles Work in k1, p1 rib for 12 rows. Change to larger needles.

Next row (RS): K across inc 4 sts evenly spaced—38 sts.

Next row: Purl.

Beginning patt:

Row 1 (RS): K7, pm (place marker), work Row 1 of bead patt on next 5 sts, pm, k to end of row.

Rows 2, 4 and 6 (WS): Purl.

Row 3: K7, sm (slip marker), work Row 3 of bead patt on next 5 sts, sm, k to end.

Row 5: Rep Row 1.

Row 7: Knit.

Row 8: Purl.

Thumb Gusset:

Row 1 (RS): K1, k1-f/b, k1, pm, k4, work Row 1 of bead patt on next 5 sts, k to last 3 sts, pm, k1, k1-f/b, k1—40 sts.

Rows 2, 4 and 6: Purl.

Row 3: K2, k1-f/b, k1, sm, k4, work Row 3 of bead patt on next 5 sts, k to next marker, sm, k1, k1-f/b, k2—42 sts.

Row 5: K3, k1-f/b, k1, sm, k4, work Row 5 of bead patt on next 5 sts, k to next marker, sm, k1, k1-f/b, k3—44 sts.

Row 7: K across row, k1-f/b in st 2 sts before first marker and in 2nd st after second marker—46 sts.

Row 8: Purl across row.

Continue in est patt repeating incs and bead patt until there are 52 sts.

BO 7 sts at beg of next 2 rows to end thumb—38 sts.

Rep Beginning Patt Rows 1–8 once more.

Change to smaller needles. Work in k1, p1 rib for 4 more rows. BO in rib.

 

RIGHT GLOVELET

Work as for Left Glovelet, reversing for thumb placement.

 

FINISHING
