MATERIALS


Caron International's Simply Soft Party (99% Acrylic/1% Polyester): 3oz/85g, 171yds/156m):
#0002 Fuchsia Sparkle (A): 1 skein

#0003 Spring Sparkle (B): 1 skein

#0007 Black Sparkle (C): 1 skein

One size US F-5 (3.75mm) crochet hook, or size to obtain gauge

2 elastic pony tail holders—medium size (for bracelets #1 and #5)

2 magnetic jewelry clasps, size suitable for 6.5mm rings (for bracelets #2 and #3)

4 rings—6.5mm diameter (for bracelets #2 and #3)

1 lobster claw jewelry clasp, size suitable for 8mm rings (for bracelet #4)

2 rings—8mm diameter (for bracelet #4)

1 pair needle-nose pliers (for bracelets #2, #3, and #4)

SPECIAL TECHNIQUE

Covering sc (to cover ponytail elastic)—Place a slip knot on the hook. *Insert hook, from front to back, into center of ponytail elastic. Take yarn over top of elastic to back, and over the hook. Draw loop to front, bring working yarn back over top of elastic, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook (1 sc worked over elastic); repeat from * until elastic is completely covered or number of times indicated. Push stitches together as you work, to ensure complete coverage.

 

BRACELET #1

Round 1: With A, work 30 covering sc over ponytail elastic; join with sl st in front loop of first sc—30 sc. Note: Work more or fewer sc as needed to completely cover the elastic.

Round 2: Working in front loops only, *ch 4, sl st in next st; repeat from * around—30 ch-4 sps.

Round 3: Working in free back loops of Round 1, *ch 4, sl st in next st; repeat from * around. Fasten off.

Finishing: Weave in ends.

 

BRACELET #2

With A, ch 29.

Round 1: Working in back bars only, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across to last ch, 4 sc in last ch; working across opposite side of foundation ch, [sk next ch, 3 hdc in next ch, sk next ch, (sl st, ch 4, sl st) in next ch] 6 times, sk next ch, 3 hdc in next ch, sk next ch (at base of first sc made), 4 sc in beginning ch (ch skipped at beginning of round), do not turn.

Round 2: [Sk next st, 3 hdc in next st, sk next st, (sl st, ch 4, sl st) in next st] 6 times, sk next st, 3 hdc in next st, sk next st, sl st in next st. Fasten off.

Finishing: Weave in ends. Use needle-nose pliers to open a 6.5mm ring, slip the ring through one end of bracelet and then through one end of magnetic closure. Use pliers to close the ring. Repeat on other end of bracelet.

 

BRACELET #3

With B, ch 27.

Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, [sk next 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch, sk next 2 ch, sc in next ch] 4 times, 4 sc in last ch; working across opposite side of foundation ch, [sc in next ch, sk next 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch, sk next 2 ch] 4 times, sc in next ch (at base of first sc made), 4 sc in beginning ch (ch skipped at beginning of round)—58 sts. Fasten off.

Finishing: Weave in ends. Use needle-nose pliers to open a 6.5mm ring, slip the ring through one end of bracelet and then through one end of magnetic closure. Use pliers to close the ring. Repeat on other end of bracelet.

 

BRACELET #4

With C, ch 29.

Row 1: Working in back bars only, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn—28 sc.

Round 2 (RS): Ch 1, working in back loops only, [sc in next st, sk next st, 3 dc in next st, sk next st] 7 times, 3 sc in beginning ch (ch skipped at beginning of Row 1); working in one loop only of each ch across foundation ch at bottom of Row 1, [sk next ch, 3 dc in next ch, sk next ch, sc in next ch] 7 times, 3 sc in turning ch at beginning of Round 2; join with sl st in first sc—62 sts. Fasten off.

Round 3 (RS): With RS facing, working in front of sts of Round 2, and working into free front loops of Row 1, join B with sl st in first st, [ch 4, sk next st, sl st in next st] 13 times, ch 4, sk end of bracelet and sl st in first free loop on opposite side of foundation ch, [ch 4, sk next st, sl st in next st] 13 times, ch 4; join with sl st in first sl st. Fasten off.

Finishing: Weave in ends. Use needle-nose pliers to open a 8mm ring, slip the ring through one end of bracelet and then through one end of lobster closure. Use pliers to close the ring. Repeat on other end of bracelet.

 

BRACELET #5

Note: Hold ponytail elastic, and work sts of Round 1 into the ring of elastic as if the elastic was a beginning crochet ring.

Row 1: Join C with sl st in ponytail elastic, work the following sts in the elastic ring and over the beginning tail, [ch 6, sl st in ring, ch 8, sl st in ring, ch 4, sl st in ring] 16 times; join with sl st in first sl st. Fasten off. Note: Work more or fewer sts as needed to completely cover the elastic.
