Stockinette Stitch (St st):
Knit on RS, purl on WS.
K2, p2 rib (multiple of 4 + 2 sts):
Row 1 (RS): K2, *p2, k2; rep from *.
Row 2: P2, *k2, p2; rep from *.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 for k2, p2 rib. .
String of Beads (multiple of 12 sts):
Rows 1 and 3 (WS): With A, purl.
Row 2: With A, knit.
Row 4: With B, k11, *turn; sl 1 wyif, k3, turn; p4, k12; rep from *, ending k1.
Row 5: With B, k5, *turn; p4, turn; k3, sl 1 wyif, k12; rep from *, ending k7.
Row 6: With A, k8, *sl 2 wyib, k10; rep from *, ending k2.
Rows 7-9: With A, rep Rows 1-3.
Row 10: With B, k5, *turn; sl 1 wyif, k3, turn; p4, k12; rep from *, ending k7.

NOTE
Mitts are worked flat and seamed.
MITT (make 2)
With A, CO 34 sts. Work in k2, p2 rib for 2", inc 2 sts on last row—36 sts.
Change to String of Beads pat and work Rows 1-12 once, then Rows 1-9.
With A only, w in St st and BO 6 sts at beg of next 2 rows—24 sts.
Continue even in St st for 2", ending with a WS row and dec 2 sts on last row—22 sts.
Cut yarn and place sts on a holder
Thumb trim
With RS facing and B, pick up and k10 sts along side edge of St st section. Beg with a WS row, work in k2, p2 rib for 7 rows. BO in rib.
Rep on opposite side.
Upper edge
With RS facing and B, pick up and k34 sts across top of Mitt (along side edges of thumb trim and sts on holder). Beg with a WS row, work in k2, p2 rib for 7 rows. BO in rib.
FINISHING
Block flat. Fold mitt in half and sew closed, leaving thumb trim area open.
Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
