Materials

1 Skein NaturallyCaron.com Country (75% Microdenier Acrylic / 25% Merino Wool; 185 yds/170m)
Size US 9 (5.5mm) Needles
Cable Needle (Cabled Version Only)
Yarn Needle
Note:  Several techie sleeves can be made with one skein of yarn.

Gauge
16 sts x 22 rows= 4”(10cm) in St st

Finished Size
Fits eReader up to 8” x 5”

Directions

Cabled Version

(To make a smaller version of this sleeve for an mp3 player or pda, CO the corresponding EVEN number of stitches --based on gauge-- to match the width of your gadget.  Take care to note that you’ll need 8 stitches for the cable pattern.)

CO 28 sts.

Rows 1-4: Work in K1, P1 rib.

Row 5 (RS): P10, k8, p10.

Row 6: K10, p8, k10.

Row 7: P10, cable 8 front (place 4 sts on cn and let them fall to the front of work, k next 4 sts, k 4 sts from cn), p10.

Row 8: K10, p8, k10.

Row 9: P10, k8, p10.

Rows 10-11: Repeat Rows 8-9

Row 12: K10, p2, k4, p2, k10.

Row 13: P10, k2, p4, k2, p10.

Rows 14-17: Repeat Rows 12-13 twice more.

Rows 18-20: Repeat Rows 8-9, ending with Row 8.

Repeat Rows 5-20 five times more (or as many times necessary to measure TWICE the length of the gadget your making the sleeve for). 

Repeat Rows 1-4.  BO in rib stitch.

Twisted Cable Rib Version

(To make a smaller version of this sleeve for an mp3 player or pda, CO the corresponding EVEN number of stitches--based on gauge--to match the width of your gadget in multiples of 4 + 2.)

CO 26.

Row 1: P2, *k2, p2; repeat from * to end.

Row 2: K2, *p2, k2; repeat from * to end.

Row 3: P2, *K2tog but don’t slip off needle, then insert right-hand needle between these 2 sts and knit the first st again, slipping both sts off needle tog, p2; repeat from * to end.

Row 4:  Repeat Row 2.

Repeat Rows 1-4 until piece measures 15” (or as long as necessary to measure TWICE the length of the gadget your making the sleeve for).

BO in pattern stitch.

Finishing (Both Versions)

Fold piece in half length-wise; seam up sides.  Weave in ends.
