GAUGE
In pattern, 20 sts and 6 rows = 4 1/4"/11cm; 2 pattern repeats = 5 1/4"/13.5cm. Note: One pattern repeat consists of a 5-dc group, the ch-3 sps on each side, and one dc.

STITCHES USED
Chain (ch), double crochet (dc), slip stitch (sl st)

SPECIAL STITCH
2-dc Cl: Two double crochet cluster—Yarn over, insert hook in indicated stitch or space and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (2 loops remain on hook); yarn over, insert hook in same stitch or space and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook; yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

NOTES
1. Shawl is worked from the center outwards, in two halves. The foundation chain runs lengthwise across the center line of the shawl. The first half is worked from the foundation chain to one outer long edge. The 2nd half is worked from the opposite side of the foundation chain to the opposite long edge.

2. The floral edging is worked simultaneously, at the end of the rows of the 4-row pattern repeat.

3. Notice how the fabric's stitch pattern looks like the buds of the fully bloomed flowers in the edging.
